AMONG MEN
Male hips, also called “love handles”, are located just above the edge of the pelvis. This area in women is known as “waist”. The male hips are an area in which fat tissue can accumulate above the waistline, so it becomes very unaesthetic. From behind, male hips look even larger because most of their structure is located on the back side.
AMONG WOMEN
Hips in women are the area just below the bra fastener or under the shoulder blades. This area is one of the most frequently treated ones through liposuction in obese women.
SPECIAL FEATURES OF HIP LIPOSUCTION
One of the common mistakes of liposuction in this area is the conduction through complete anesthesia and the patient’s position, lying on his/her back. Thus, the larger part of the hip located on the back side cannot be treated. Therefore, the administration of local anesthesia is much more appropriate for the treatment of the hips. Through its application, the patient is able to easily turn around and comfortably take a body position.
POST LIPOSUCTION OPEN DRAINAGE
This technique leaves the incisions applied for the procedure open, so that maximum amount of the mixture of blood and anesthetic can flow out through them. Thus, the formation of postoperative swelling and hematomas is reduced. After liposuction of the hips, patients use special absorbent pads that absorb the fluid mixture from the open incisions. This technique does not require wearing compression garments for a long period.
POST LIPOSUCTION COMPRESSION
Compression after liposuction of the hips is usually achieved with the help of special elastic belts (binders). The doctor should define their appropriate size. Absorbent pads are placed under them. Usually two compression belts are placed one on the top of the other.
FIBROUS FAT TISSUE
The content of fibrous fat tissue in male hips is higher than in females, which makes hips liposuction among men more difficult. The application of microcannulas (with an outer diameter of less than 2.8 mm) greatly eases the procedure.
