About the procedure
The shape of the buttocks is formed by subcutaneous fat tissue. When their shape is proportionate, buttocks look good in clothes. When disproportionate, buttocks can provoke feelings of discomfort, frustration, shame and insecurity. Fat tissue in the buttocks is of an important, functional and aesthetic significance. Functionally, buttocks act as a soft but durable cushion that provides protection while sitting on a hard surface. Aesthetically, good-looking buttocks evoke visual satisfaction.
Surgical technique in buttock liposuction
Buttock liposuction aims for an optimal size and volume reduction in the buttocks, as well as same skin smoothness in the whole area. The surgeon should strive to achieve symmetry without removing excess fat accumulation. Using microcannulas contributes to the finishing touches on the shape details which are necessary for optimal results.
Liposuction itself cannot lift buttocks. Removing excess fat tissue reduces the weight of the buttocks, which allows lifting to some extent and due to the natural skin elasticity. In older patients, whose skin has lost its elasticity, a significant buttock lifting cannot be expected.
The application of microcannulas leads to the best result
Using microcannulas for liposuction provides an opportunity for precise size and shape improvements in the buttocks. This method usually gives excellent results combined with achieving good symmetry and smoothness of the skin. Microcannulas have a diameter of less than 3 mm. Some surgeons apply larger cannulas only to speed up the procedure, but these are premises for worse results.
Significance of the sacral fat pad
Some patients have an fat accumulation, which is located in the lower back area, right on the intergluteal fold. This is a genetically congenital feature. From an aesthetic point of view, the sacral fat pad is a part of the buttocks.
Significance of the horizontal folds under the buttocks
Horizontal folds under the seat are a boundary between buttocks and rear thigh. This fold consists of a network of fibrous connective tissue, also known as the Luchka ligament. This ligament connects the skin to the surface of the buttocks muscles. Some people do not have such horizontal folds and any trying to create them artificially is neither reasonable nor advisable.
Significance of “banana-shaped protrusion”
Some people have this protrusion, located just below the horizontal fold, at the top of the rear thigh. Removing too much fat amount from this protrusion will create an impossible to correct redundant or double horizontal fold.
