About Sofia
Sofia is the largest city and capital of Bulgaria. The population is around 1,250,000 people. Sofia is located in the west side of the country, on the lower part of Vitosha Mointain and Sofia Plain. The hotel is located in the heart of the city. Extremely easily accessible, it is only 20 minutes from Sofia Airport. There is also a James Boucher Metro station in a walking distance, which can take you to the airport, as well as to the city centre to explore its attractions.

The five-star Hotel is one of the most iconic in Sofia and is the centre of the capital’s social life. It was designed by famous Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa, combining traditional Bulgarian and Japanese architecture with innovative and modern design. With its exceptionally large area of 30,000 square meters, Hotel Marinela offers a different lifestyle centred on wellness, comfort and quality service. Hotel Marinela has 440 rooms and suites. There isthe largest and most luxurious presidential suite in Bulgaria with its 270 square meters. It is decorated in Renaissance and Baroque style and offers spectacular views of the city and Vitosha Mountain.

Bar Sakura is undoubtedly the favourite place for relaxation and cocktail lovers. The bar has a magnificent terrace from which customers can enjoy the hotel’s Japanese Garden – a fabulous natural setting and a huge bio-diversity of representatives of the plant and animal world. The “Japanese Garden” is modelled on the 400-year-old Japanese garden of the New Otani Hotel in Tokyo. There is aslo the best japanese restaurant in Sofia for last 5 years called UMAMI.
There is also a 20-metre indoor swimming pool, a modern fitness centre, and a Vitamin Bar with a large selection of refreshing and energising drinks.
Our Covid19 measures
The health and safety of our guests and employees is our top priority and mission. The entire hotel team and all departments came together to create our newest Green Apple Policy.
Part of the policy is to introduce healthy alternatives to all our products, because the first and most important step to protect ourselves is to look after our health.
At each hotel entrance, guests have access to a hygiene station containing hand sanitizer dispensers. Hygiene stations are located at each check-in desk, at the pee and concierge banks, in each concourse, and by the elevators.
Signs and markings in common areas help remind guests to keep their distance.
Disinfectant, individual gloves and masks are available in each room. Upon arrival, each guest will be asked what their personal preferences are regarding room cleaning and interaction with Housekeeping colleagues.
All employees of Hotel Marinela wear personal protective equipment and have undergone safety training. Strict procedure for wearing and handling personal protective equipment shall be followed. All staff is informed about maintaining social distance and actions to take when a sick guest or staff member is suspected.
A PCR & Antigen Testing laboratory is also available on the premises.
